Product Description
Angelino and his skull-and-flame pal Vinz live in a seedy tenement in a burnt-out, gang-and-cockroach-ridden dystopian metropolis. Following a scooter accident, Angelino starts experiencing migraines and strange hallucinations, as well as fits of rage-inspired superpowers, as he slowly awakens to the truth of his origins: he is half-human and half-Macho, a supernatural alien race that is bent on taking over the planet. Based on the comic series by Guillaume 'Run' Renard and stunningly animated by ultra-hip Studio 4°C, MFKZ is a wild, action-packed mashup of anime, sci-fi and hip-hop influences, featuring the voices of Michael Chiklis, Giancarlo Esposito, Dascha Polanco, RZA, Vince Staples and Danny Trejo.

I saw this film in US theaters in 2018 with the Mrs. She was unsure of what she was getting into but committed to seeing it do the the visual style and being familiar with some of the works of Studio 4C. I could paint a more vivid picture by getting into where she is from and how English is not her first language nor does she have a ton of exposure/experience with American culture, etc, etc.
However, I will try to keep it brief by saying she absolutely enjoyed it. We both had a really fun and enjoyable time watching this film, perhaps for different reasons. I'm an American who is familiar with the culture depicted in the film, my wife is not and yet we both loved what we saw enough to purchase this film to watch again and share with others, namely my 60+ year old parents.
From the artistic styling, to the oddly out of place yet cute characters in a not so cute world, to the jokes and laughs, to the action and slight homage to "They Live," MFKZ really delivered in my opinion.
So do watch the trailer, if you don't sense a good vibe from it then I'd say this isn't your style of film. However, if it pumps you up or you simply enjoy the visuals then by all means do have a watch, I'm sure you won't regret it.
